Dear Bobby McFerin
I am a high school visual arts teacher in the hood and the mother of a 21 year old whose salvation is music. He struggles with Bi-polar disorder and the course of his life journey is obscured and worrisome. He sings, composes, and plays guitar in his bedroom. I want to introduce him to your spirit. I saw you live in 1993 and had your cassette in college that I wore out.
I could afford the 6 day Circlesong for Ian, but am unsure He could endure. Do you think a one event trial may be better? Can you recommend one of your teachers or even you who could connect with him to spark some confidence and joy? He goes by the handle greyscarf on Sound Cloud - has 3 followers! - and has improved alot since those postings. I, myself also get up bout 6am to be exact, commune with my master.

Me emociona cada actuación tuya ante el público y en especial cuando haces pedagogía de la música haciendo cantar a todos de manera improvisada. Eres un genio.
Mi sueño es verte en persona, espero pronto lo pueda lograr mientras tanto seguiré disfrutando de tu arte por las redes.
Yo también soy docente y trabajo enseñando en un instituto tecnológico en Lima-Perú y desde hace varios años soy un convencido de que antes de empezar a trabajar algún tema o contenido con los jóvenes, primero les cambio el humor con alguna canción o una historia que los motive, les haga olvidar su pobreza y tantos otros problemas. Por eso te sigo, tú me inspiras. Gracias por ser como eres, tan sencillo, tan humilde y por ser siempre mi inspiración.

Im currently listening to one of your improvs and felt this huge wave of gratitude hitting my body, so I came to find this.
My heart has truly never felt this full and my mind this clear until Ive started listening to you.
I feel like you are so aware of the collective consciousness and it is absolutely beautiful to witness how you play with the audience, as well as with frequencies and melodies - it never fails to amaze me, no matter how many times I listen to you.

I have discovered you 2 days ago
Heavens, how good this feels..listening to you brings me profound spiritual experience, like something is going on in parallel with the sounds.
Something is expanding inside my body and is lifting up, like the soul is transcending and traveling somewhere, and then suddenly all the burden is gone. so lightweight, so precious..i have no decent words for this
Whatever that is, thank you dearly from the very center of my heart for your existence and bringing this to us..

Although I live in Spain, and everything sounds crazy and arrogant, but, yes, I would love for us to try singing together one day, even if it's through this internet medium... to begin with.

Hi Bobby, I was at your interactive performance at Berkeley Freight and Salvage this last Monday. I was the old bald white guy that got up to sing with you all on stage at the end, when you asked scared singers to come forward. A life dream come true for me, but I wish I'd had the presence of mind and heart to tell you when I had the chance how much gratitude I have for all the years you've inspired me and countless others around the world to have ridiculous amounts of musical fun using nothing more than what were born with: voices, bodies, hearts and souls. Endless thanks!

I thoroughly enjoy watching the You Tube videos of your musical improv work. It is truly amazing and your interplay with the audiences is fun to watch. I am hoping that one day you will perform in Victoria or Vancouver. Yours would be a performance well worth seeing. Thank you.

You taught classes at Tanglewood in the early 90’s. The highlight of my summer—your beautiful voice and generous spirit. You wrote me a recommendation letter to Harvard that I’m sure got me in. Today I’m a speech therapist helping ppl find the voice they’ve lost or doesn’t yet express who they truly are. Work I love. You helped me do that. Your gift keeps giving. Thank you, Bobby!

I was a huge fan of yours in the 80s - I bought all of your albums, and went to see you at Zellerbach Hall in Berkeley, Davies Symphony Hall in SF and other venues. After not seeing you live for more than three decades, I stumbled upon magical Circlesongs with Motion at Grace Cathedral yesterday morning. What a delightful surprise and meaningful experience! I will be back!
