What a legend. I regularly send my friends any clips of Bobby McFerrin I can find. I also show them in a mindfulness class I teach when I cover the concept of awe. That is because his talent is awe-inspiring. It is not just musical talent. It is also the ability to connect people and inspire delight and humor. Like the grown-up version of peek-a-boo: there you are.

About 30 years ago I saw a video clip of Stephen Stills rocking out solo onstage. He kept repeating a funk riff and the crowd was going nuts. Then the camera cut to a shot of Bobby McFerrin in the audience clapping and dancing to the beat with all he had. It was electrifying. Does anyone have any info as to the clip/conference I’m referring to? I’d love to be able to see it again.

Yesterday I watched the recording of a splendid concert at Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona) with Bobby McFerrin and Orfeó Català. I truly enjoyed it! I had a chance to see Bobby McFerrin in concert along with the Yellow Jackets back in 2012 in Donostia-San Sebastián, which was amazing!!

I loved seeing you at Britt , two times. My favorite was when you engaged the audience. A local singer Chris Williams did the Circle Song with you and brought us an evening of circle song. Will you do something like that again? I sure hope so❣️

On that greatly anticipated day, we watch your performances and interviews, reflect on our own singing practices and make music together. Hi Bobby! As a musician I have become fascinated with the relationship between music and the brain/energy/healing. I watched Notes and Neurons and felt the scientists had a long way to go to understand what you understand instinctively. Two things I wanted to say; firstly, I think what you experienced from the Miles Davis gig was Awe which has a huge physical and mental effect. Secondly, maybe you know, in the last couple of years, they discovered neurons that react only to singing/singing with instruments. Not to instrumental music or speech. They don’t know why we have them. That’s it, keep doing what you do, you are an amazing being! X
